Scenario: a PDF still shows account numbers in a header stripe on every page. PDF Redact Band paints an opaque black rectangle across that horizontal strip so the shared copy no longer flashes the same sensitive line.
This tool is for repeated layout redaction (same band top/height on all pages), not freehand region painting. Set band-from-top and band height as percentages, apply, then download redacted.pdf. It is a practical scrub for banners, footers, or letterheads that repeat.
Pitfall: black boxes drawn on top of content are not always legal-grade redaction if underlying text objects remain selectable or extractable. For compliance work, verify with copy-paste and a PDF text extract after you download. When in doubt, rasterize or use a dedicated redaction product.
Tip: print one page to PDF preview or zoom the black band edges before you circulate the file.

No. PDF Redact Band is built to process PDFs in your browser with client-side libraries. Your document stays on your device during processing.
PDF Redact Band works with common PDF 1.3–1.7 files produced by Word, browsers, and design apps. Extremely unusual or damaged PDFs may fail validation.
Encrypted PDFs often need unlocking first. If the tool rejects the file, remove the password in a trusted desktop app, then retry PDF Redact Band.
It depends on the operation. Merge/split/rotate usually preserve page content; compression or rasterisation can affect visual fidelity. Preview results before discarding the original.
There is no fixed server quota, but very large page counts are limited by your device memory. Try a shorter range first if the browser becomes slow.
Keep your original PDF. Browser processing does not replace the source file until you download and overwrite it yourself.
After the page and libraries load, many PDF actions continue offline. First-time library loads need a network connection.
