UUIDs work, but they are long in URLs and log lines. NanoID Generator creates compact, URL-safe IDs with configurable length when you want shorter public identifiers without standing up a sequence service.
Use NanoIDs for share slugs, request correlation when humans might copy the ID, or client-generated keys where collision risk is managed by length. They are not secret capabilities by themselves; protect resources with auth, not obscurity of the ID.
Pitfall: shortening too aggressively in a huge keyspace. Longer IDs reduce collision odds. Match length to your scale and alphabet.
Compare options in the UUID vs NanoID vs ULID guide when you are choosing defaults for a new service. ULID helps when lexicographic time order matters; UUID v7 is another time-ordered path.
IDs are produced with Web Crypto randomness in the page. No ID pool is fetched from our backend when you click generate.

Generators and hashers run locally. Still, never paste production secrets into any site if your security policy forbids it.
Results live in page memory until you leave or clear. Favourites/history do not save password fields unless you explicitly store them in Vault.
When applicable, tools rely on Web Crypto or well-known libraries. Read on-page notes for exact algorithms (SHA-256, bcrypt-style notes, etc.).
After load, crypto helpers typically work offline. Confirm network independence for your threat model.
Browser CSPRNG (crypto.getRandomValues) powers secure generators when the tool states so.
Treat generated secrets like passwords - share only through approved password managers, never chat apps.
